Crops are grown in different seasons. India has three different seasons:
Kharif
- Time Period: June-Sept
- Crops: Paddy, maize, bajra, moong, cotton, etc
- Done in: Assam, WB, Odisha, AP, Telangana, TN, Kerala, MH. Coastal
- Three crops of paddy is grown in Assam, WB and Odisha, known as Aus, Aman and Boro
Rabi
The winter crops
- Time Period: Oct-April
- Crops: Wheat, barley, peas, gram, etc.
- The rainfall helps in more production.
- Done in: Punjab, Haryana, HP, UK, UP, etc. (NW and North)
Zaid
- Time Period: Summer months (between Rabi and Kharif)
- Crops: Cucumber, Watermelon, Muskmelon, etc.
